Severe Weather Warning WIND Storm Eunice Friday 18 February 2022

With Storm Eunice looking set to rattle through central areas of the UK - for our region, this means there is a risk that south west then westerly severe gales or storm force winds developing and an increasing likelihood of widespread inland wind gusts of 60 to 70mph. In a few locations, gusts up to 80 mph are possible for a time. A Met Office Amber Warning of Wind (MetOffice details can be found HERE), has now been issued for Storm Eunice and is valid from 0300 until 2100 on Friday. Advice from UK Power Network, Storms Dudley and Eunice

Storms Dudley and Eunice will arrive consecutively in the UK from today (Wednesday 16th February). As you may be aware, UK Power Networks manages the local power lines and substations which distribute electricity to over 8.3m homes and businesses across London, the South East and the East of England. Storm Dudley will arrive today and is forecast to have a minimal impact on the network. However, Storm Eunice is expected to arrive on Friday 18th and is expected to bring stronger winds and unsettled weather. The electricity network is built to be resilient but strong winds and heavy rain can bring down branches and trees, damaging overhead power lines. Have your say on the future of transport in the East

Transport East have developed a draft regional Transport Strategy and are inviting you to have your say by completing their public consultation. Covering Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex, Southend-on-Sea and Thurrock, the ambitious strategy sets a series of priorities for better transport for everybody living, working, and learning in the region up to 2050. The strategy, which will guide future transport investment in the East, has been developed following extensive analysis of technical evidence and talking with the public and partners to make sure it aligns with local ambitions and needs.
