PROCLAMATION OF THE NEW KING

Following the passing of our late Sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a proclamation of the new King Charles III will be read across the country over the weekend of 10 and 11 September.

In Bradfield, the Proclamation will be read by the Chair of Bradfield Parish Council at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday 11th September 2022 by the War Memorial outside St Lawrence Church, the Street, CO11 2UU.

All residents are more than welcome to join this simple and short reading to announce the new King.

The proclamation of the new Sovereign is a very old tradition which can be traced back over many centuries. The ceremony does not create a new King but is an announcement of the accession which took place immediately on the death of the reigning monarch.
