Who Does What

The many functions of local government in England are carried out by different levels of organisation.

In Essex town and parish councils are the first tier of local government and they play a very important role within the local community. Bradfield Parish Council falls within the area administered by Tendring District Council, which in turn falls within the area administered by Essex County Council. This is moving through changes as part of the Local Government Reform and more information can be found about this here.

Currently, all three organisations have different responsibilities. Although all are part of the local government system and maintain close working relationships, each organisation is an independent statutory authority in its own right.
