Free opportunities for young people to get involved with nature

Young people in Suffolk and Essex aged between 13-18 are encouraged to take part in hands-on conservation work as part of a popular volunteering scheme. The Coast & Vale Youth Rangers is a free volunteer group for young people aged 13-18 who are interested in gaining hands-on skills and experience in conservation and environmental work. Organised by the Dedham Vale and Coast & Heaths Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty team, sessions usually take place outdoors on the first Sunday morning of each month at various green spaces on the Suffolk and Essex border. Tendring Community Fund applications – Now Open

Applications are now open to community groups and organisations for the next round of the Tendring Community Fund. Schemes should particularly look to tackle issues such as social isolation and unemployment, or improve education or health outcomes or the environment, and support Tendring District Council’s (TDC) key priorities. Applications will also be given more support if they have match-funding from other partners, such as charities, businesses or public sector bodies. Funding can be used for both revenue and capital projects. For an application to be considered in this next round of funding, it must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 31stMarch. Issued by the Met Office: Today and much of the weekend be mainly fine if cold across our region. Despite any brighter skies, daytime highs will struggle to make 3 or 4 Celsius at very best. Indeed, where any overnight freezing fog lingers, this most likely Sunday, temperatures may struggle to get much above freezing. Overnight lows will dip to minus 2 to minus 6 Celsius. Winds mainly light throughout. Later Sunday and into Monday, sleet and snow showers may develop towards some coastal areas and move inland at times.
