Affordable Homes
I think it would be useful to set out the sequence of events which led to six sites being identified as worth investigating as potential sites suitable for affordable homes.Initially, about two years ago, and following a well publicised village survey, BPC was asked to help English Rural Housing in identifying potential sites for six homes, i.e. two one bed, two two bed and two three bed homes, outside the Bradfield village envelope.
(this would ensure that people with a strong Bradfield connection would be offered first refusal of the tenancies).
Every potential site was viewed by BPC and English Rural Housing staff, and a public meeting, (again, well publicised), was held in the Community Centre earlier this year when the sites were displayed for public information and comment.
At present the Housing Association staff are in the process of contacting the site landowners to determine if three of the sites would be available for sale.
The sites have been narrowed down to three after consultation with ECC Highways Dept, and if all are available for sale the preferred site will be chosen by BPC and English Rural Housing.
If none are for sale then obviously further sites will be sought.
Once a site is chosen and a sale agreed a full planning consultation process will be undertaken, and plans will be available for inspection and comment by all interested parties, including BPC.
